1 Week!

With my trip to New York in just 1 week, there is still so much to do. Researching, packing, planning, packing, shopping and even more packing! But today I decided to take a break from all this and indulge in the episodes of Gossip Girl that I had missed since being at uni.

And to be fair, it is research; i mean it's set in the Upper East Side!

Here are some of my favourite outfits from season 4:

I love how with this outfit the trousers just should not go with the top, yet Serena, Blake Lively, manages pull the look off so effortlessly that we begin to question, maybe it does look good together?

2 words ... Chuck Bass!!

An Education

Trailer for 'An Education'

When this film was first released in 2009 I was aware of it in the press due to the 3 Oscars it was nominated for, and at the time thought I want to see that film. Well today I finally did. And I would definitely recommend it. Okay it's no action blockbuster, but there's something about it that just makes it good; it's charming. Carey Mulligan was brilliant and undoubtedly deserved her BAFTA as well as her Oscar nomination for best leading actress and there is some beautiful music in the soundtrack that fits the film perfectly.

Whilst I was watching it I couldn't help but think that the fashions that were around in the 1960s, when the film was set, wouldn't look out of place on the high street today.

Successful Advertising?

This is the Givenchy Spring 2011 ad campaign, but in all honesty it is a little bit feakish isn't it? The models seems as though they are coming from one body and the use of the ghostly white colour only adds to the eeriness. The gothic inspired mask that the model wears is almost haunting. This reminds me of last term where we studied the use of Macabre in fashion advertising, and Givenchy is definitely hinting towards this this season. Do you think this type of advertising is successful, or does it just put you off the brand?

TUNES!

Professor Green ft. Maverick Sabre - Jungle

Jessie J - Do It Like A Dude

Adele - Rolling In The Deep

I can't stop listening to any of these songs. The only one that is actually my type of music is the first one by Pro Green, but I love the new comback by Adele and this debut my Jessie J is pretty catchy too. Hope you enjoy as much as I do!

Sale Shopping ...

After getting some tax back on Christmas Eve i decided to go shopping today and treated myself to some new clothes!

The New Years Eve dress! I started in Topshop, where I came across this lepoard print asymmetric dress in the sale. At the sweet price of £25, and with my student discount on top i thought bargainnn; this will be the perfect dress for New Years! I will wear with a plaited brown waist belt, black tights and black heels and then most probably red lipstick!

I have been looking for this blouse for the past week now. It was pretty much sold out online, and I couldnt find it in either of the 2 main Topshops in Sheffield, so today I tried the 3rd and final Topshop situated in the corner of Debenhams and there on the "buy now or regret later" rail, in my size, was the top! It was fate I couldn't not buy it. And even though it broke my bank balance, it was definaltly worth it!

Christmas Eve Eve!

After many attempts at trying to go on a night out with my friends, we finally achieved a successful one last thursday on Christmas eve eve! We hit Plug, the student night in Sheffield on a thursday! In there I must have seen pretty much my entire old 6th form, it was good to see people, but also weird at the same time! But not before we went to Soyo, the 'trendiest' bar in Sheffield; the toliets are amazing, it has a red sofa and amazing mirrors!

Here are some photos of the night ...

Here we are in Soyo's toilets; amazing aren't they! I'm wearing a dress that I recently bought from Topshop! It was a bit of a guilty buy, as I had no money at the time, but I couldn't resist! I'm wearing it with half and half tights, yes the same ones as I have been wearing for the past few nights out! My heels are from Garage Shoe, a really good, cheap shoe shop if you can get over the instant chaviness! And then my coat is from like 2 Christmas's ago from H&M, but I still love it!

Me and my friends in the toilets of Plug!

And these were taken before we had even gone out! I think the wine must have gone to out heads!

CHRISTMAS!

It's only 3 days until christmas! I'm such a child when it comes to christmas time, i get so excited, but this year it just doesn't feel like christmas. Maybe it's because im working so much that I haven't really had time to think about it, and also my sister did most of my christmas shopping for me! But I did start to feel christmasy when we decorated the tree at the weekend, and I am looking forward to friday when we go to London town to spend christmas with the family!
Happy Christmas to everyone, enjoy it!

Kings of Leon!

On Sunday I went to see one of my all time favourite bands, Kings of Leon; it was AMAZING! I think thats the only word I can use to describe it! Not only was the music good, but the entire show they put on. To start they had a massive glitter ball and lots of pink smoke, and then throughout the band were filmed whilst on stage and this was played through big screens on the back. There was also the lighting which complimented the mood of song that was being played. It was so amazingly amazing! Here are some photos of it all ...

These are some photos of the outfit I wore ...

I wore a little black dress that I got in the French Connection sale in the summer, half and half tights from Primark with over the knee socks worn over the top from H&M in order to stay warm! My necklace was bought in the New Look sale and the boots were from Garage Shoe. I wore with a dark purple lipstick!

My Manifesto ...

For our portfolio for uni we had to write a manifesto which summed up what we believed in and what we aimed to do. I therefore thought that this would be a good place to start my blog ...
