miu miu

miu miu's fall 2011 ad campaign is particularly stunning. photographed by bruce webber it is a beautiful mix of retro silhouettes and whimsical prints; there is something very nostalgic about this 40s inspired photography. despite the youngness of the model, hailee steinfeld, there is still an air of sophistication and maturity about the campaign, set in the gorgeous rural scenery. yet this is contrasted by the element of playful childishness during the indoor shots with the idea of playing dress up with the glittery heels. overall this campaign is just stunning; take a look for yourself and see what you think:

this idea of nostaligia continued in last month's vogue in a photo shoot named 'autumn sonata' starring Lily Donaldson, photographed by Tom Craig and styled by bay garnett. again the mix of printed day dresses with cosy knits set on the tiny island of faro, off the coast of sweden, makes for some stunning photographs:

dazed 20th anniversary

when i am in london in a couple of weeks i have to go to this exhibition:
the exhibition is a representation of dazed and confused's best bits featuring work from artists like jake and dino chapman and sam taylor-wood.  the content will be displayed over 5 rooms of somerset house, the first three are a visual representation of the chronological journey thorough dazed over the early years leading through to it now in the present day.
the final 2 rooms are concepts created by the likes of the late alexander mcqueen, fashion-able and salo.
and to top it all off it's free to get in! here are some images to show you what i am talking about:

rihanna

princess riri, as known to her fans, has been gracing the fashion world quite a lot recently. from starring in the armani jeans advert to being cover star of british vogue last month.

rihanna in the armani jeans advert

my opinion of rihanna had being going a bit downhill recently. i just thought her latest album was all a bit too much; was it really necessary for all those erotic dance moves and offensive lyrics, especially considering the age of some of her fans. she said in her interview in vogue, "people, they want me to be a role model just because of the life i lead ... but no, i just want to make music. that's it."

however, since seeing her at v festival this summer (see above photo) my opinions have started to change. she put on such a good performance and after seeing her in vogue, maybe she isn't all about the sex after all.

she looks so sophisticated in armani couture and the blonde wig and despite loving her red hair she still looks awesome. i think the fashion world needs to watch out, rihanna is only going to get bigger.

and on a final note i will leave you with rihanna's new video featuring calvin harris, we found love. i love it.

more new clothes

as the lovely taxman decided to give me all my money back this month, i thought it was time to treat myself. again:

(clockwise) scarf - primark, top - french connection, leggings - primark, leather shorts - primark, sequin shorts - french connection

i am absolutely in love with these sequin shorts. along with the black top they are part of my new work uniform for french connection, but they will also be perfect for a night out. i will be sure to post you a photo when i am wearing them.

i have wanted some leather shorts for a while now and these ones from primark are perfect. not only were they reasonably priced at £14, i love the detail and the scalloped edges. they are also a really good fit too.

zane lowe

last week zane lowe was playing at oceana in nottingham, and despite my dislike for the place, i couldn't miss this opportunity.

even though i got headbutted on the dancefloor when i got caught up in a mosh pit, the night was still amazing. zane lowe was so good, proper got the crowd going and played every genre of music possible. if you ever get the chance to see him, do!

this is what i wore for the night. my new top from topshop with some black denim shorts from zara and black wedges.

new clothes

okay so i apologise for the substantial lack of blogging recently. i forgot what it was like being back at uni organising your time between uni life and social life and then everything inbetween and currently my social life has been winning. but i am back on track now!

so i thought i would start with showing you all my new purchases:

from left: dress - french connection, top - topshop, maxi skirt - topshop, jeans - topshop

working for french connection has it's advantages, this dress is my new work uniform and i proper love it. the snake print makes it really current as animal print is big this season and as well as being suitable for work, it is also perfect for a night out. the next piece of uniform i have my eye on is some sequin hotpants!

this maxi skirt was the exact one i had been looking for all summer. i was desperate to find one made up with a shorter layer underneath and a sheer fabric on top. so when i saw this one i couldn't resist not buying it!

moroccan market

so last weekend in nottingham, they had a moroccan market in market square. i love it when they have these types of markets because all the products are so visually stunning and it opens our eyes to a complete different culture. there were some gorgeous pieces, from leather satchels to exquisitely decorated homewear to beautiful pieces of jewellery. if only i had had some money to spend.

louis vuitton

the louis vuitton spring/summer 12 show could not have been more different than that of autumn/winter 11. no longer was it about the fetish boots or sheer fabrics, but instead this season was a lot more subtle. it was soft and fragile in pastel colours accompanied with feathers, lacy collars and oversized white buttons. yet there was a certain strength to the collection with exquisite laser cut lace tops and skirts, sealed in silk cellophane; as if the contents was to precious to be unwrapped. all presented on a carousel, it was an absolute stunning collection.

shu fashion design

whilst sorting through all my stuff to start back at uni, i came across the lookbook i had picked in the summer promoting the work of the fashion design students at sheffield hallam university. sheffield may not be best known for being involved within fashion, but some of the garments that the graduates have produced are stunning and i had to share them with you. and with sheffield fashion week coming up next week, maybe things are set to change on the sheffield fashion scene.
