HOLIDAY!

Toooooo many clothes! This is the result of me trying to pack for my holiday:

Do you find that running up to a holiday you find yourself constantly saying 'I don't have any clothes for my holiday', yet when it comes to packing you want to take everything? Well this is my problem, this week I have been trying to pack for my holiday to Majorca, yet I want to take everything in my wardrobe even though a lot of it I havent worn since last summer. And even then I probably took it on holiday and didn't even wear it. The 'what if' debate always wins when I'm packing and I therefore end up taking an outfit for every possible occasion 'just in case'! Thankfully I managed to get it all into my suitcase.

See you in 2 weeks!

Monday Night

This was my outfit to Corp last night:

Me and my friend Jen before our night out. I'm wearing top, jacket and shorts all from Topshop and worn with my new heels which you can see a few posts below.

Corporation (Corp) is a club in Sheffield. It is nothing fancy and is pretty dirty inside, but everyone seems to love it; including me! However I don't think me and the mosher room in corp mix very well, as last night I didn't know any of the songs! And it was all a little scary! However if you go on a Monday night, the upstairs room is lots of fun and the drinks are really cheap. I'd recommend it!

Vivienne Westwood Menswear S/S12

It was going to happen eventually; the Olympics are coming to London next summer and there was going to be some designers who were influenced by it. The first being Vivienne Westwood. Westwood is a London designer and has previously been obsessed with Ancient Greece since the late eighties. The collection was seen in Milan Menswear, Spring/Summer 2012, where many of the Westwood clothing replicated the type of clothing of London 1948, the last time Britain hosted the Olymipc games. It saw knee-high socks, brogues and brylcreemed hair. The rest of the collection continued with favourite Westwood classics: tailored suits, wide - lapels, contrasting tousers, all with a dapper flair. Take a look for yourself:

Lukasz Wierzbowski

How gorgeous are these photos:

Taken by polish photographer Lukasz Wierzbowski for the Urban Outfitters lookbook for their 'Print Collection'. The photographs are just stunning. I like how the models face isn't focused on which makes you more aware of the surroundings, whilst also focusing in on the clothing. I love the use of vibrant colours and the summery, playful vibe they display.

Central Saint Martins: BA Graduate Fashion Show

Photos taken by Amelia Gregory.

Here are some of my favourite collections from Central Saint Martins latest graduates:

Andraya Farrag
Possibly another Alexander McQueen in the making?

Flaminia Saccucci - first prize winner
Gorgeous floral prints made of latex in pastel colours contrasting with tyre printed legs.

There was an 80s influence all over the catwalk:

Jie Bai
Intriguing use of shapes and fabrics.

Eilish Macintosh
Love the use of texture and geometric shapes.

Holly Skousbo
One of the most wearable collections. The shoulder pads were out and pleating was everywhere.

These are just a few of my favourite collections, there were many more stunning designs throughout the show.

Pedro Lourenco

This young Brazilian designer is someone to watch out for if his Resort 2012 collection is anything to by. Teaming up with Brazilian artist Lelli de Orleans e Braganca, he created stunning tropical bird prints, which are very on trend. His complicated technique is also impressive creating complex clothing with a futuristic edge. The outer, rubberised layer of his zip-front shift dresses are magnetized so that they can be unziped and worn open to reveal similar tropical prints on the lining of the dress. If that sounds confusing take a look for yourself:

Summer Sunshine and Plenty of Cider

This is what I want my summer to consist of:

Sunshine, BBQs, cider (my current favourite being apple cider mixed with blackcurrent) and lots of time spent with friends. Photos courtesy of my friend Jennifer Horne.

And of course toasting Marshmellows!

Made Up

My friend Laura is doing her graduate show on Monday for her make up course. The dress the model is wearing is seen in previous post 'black bin bags and lot of tape' but the other day was make-up day where Laura practiced her final ideas on me. Here are some of the images:

The idea was to create a gothic look which, like the dress, had to be inspired by Alexander McQueen. I think she has done pretty well. Good luck Laura!

... But I Also Found These ...

(Sorry Mum I bought another pair of shoes!) But to be fair I have wanted these beautys for months now, since I first saw them in Office. Except these are a pretty much exact copy from my favourite cheap shoe shop, Garage Shoe! And as they only set me back £19.99, a third of the price of the Office ones, they were a bargain!

Look What I Found ...

Just casually walking through New Look today, turned and saw theses monstrosities of a shoe. They are designed by London College of Fashion and will set you back a nice £50. But really? There is nothing fashionable about these. The colours are even brighter than they look in the photo and are made from some lovely plastic material. They are also ridiculously high, I made my friend Laura try them on (see below) and she could hardly walk in them, only shuffle! Some women even came up to us and asked us if we wanted her to make an early booking in A&E for us cos if you fall in these, you WILL break something!

Let me know what you think, but personally I think they are crazy. Couldn't even imagine Lady Gaga in them!

Shalalala

This week saw the release of the new Arctic Monkeys album Suck It And See. Maybe I'm a little biased as they are also from Sheffield, but these are one of my all time favourite bands so I would definitley encourage you to listen to the album. This is the next single to be released off the album being performed on Later with Jools Holland:

Arctic Monkeys - The Hellcat Spangled Shalalala

The band also announced this morning that they are set to do a headline UK tour in October/November. I know I will be first in line for tickets!

CDFA Fashion Awards

Photos taken by Tommy Ton and can be found here on style.com:

Best Dressed
Karolina Kurkova in Diane Von Furstenberg

Pheobe Philo in her own design for Celine
I love the androgynous look compared to all the other women in dresses. Yet she still looks so stylish and feminine.
Hamish Bowles and Haider Ackerman
Two very stylish men.

Elletra Wiedemann and                                                                                 Ashley and Mary-Kate
Monique Péan, both in J. Mendel                                                                Olsen, both in The Row
Liv Tyler in Proenza Schouler

Liya Kebede in Derek Lam

Michelle Harper
I love the cross between simplicity and complexity with her outfit and her hair looks amazing.

Hana Soukupova in Marchesa and Doutzen Kroes in J. Mendal
Both girls look stunning, and the action shot really helps encapsulate their beauty. I love the detail in the Marchesa dress whilst the deep red and thigh slit (not seen in this image) give the J. Mendal dress a sultry appeal, yet not sulty, Kroes still looks uber stylish.

Lady Gaga in custom Mugler
And the award for the most adventerous dressed goes to, who else but, Lady Gaga! Yes the blue hair was a little weird but she still looks super cool; it is what we expect from her.

She won the Fashion Icon Award, presented to her by Anna Wintour. An award she definitley deserves after the influence she has had on fashion over the last year or so.
As she said in her speech "Amen to fashion."
