Tramlines

Tramlines is a free festival they put on in my home town of Sheffield every year and I finally got round to checking it out this year. They have the main stage where they stage some bigger named acts, I got to see the Futureheads play (who were actually a lot better than I expected) but over the weekend it also saw Pixie Lott, Rizzle Kicks and Olly Murs, just to name a few. I also discovered my new favourite band here, The Crookes:

The Crookes - Backstreet Lovers

Then there is a smaller stage where up and coming bands play. But as well as this almost every bar in sheffield hosts smaller, more local bands and DJs and lots of the clubs are free entry for the weekend so its good to make the most of it. I got to see a pretty good DJ called Sci-Fi Kid in a bar called the Common Room. Heres a couple of photos from the weekend (sorry for the lack of them, I forgot my camera!):

BEYONCÉ

Having read the article on Beyoncé in Dazed and Confused (which you can read here), I just had to share the stunning photographs captured by Sharif Hamza. Along with the beautiful styling by Karen Langley, I love the juxtaposition between the glamorous clothing and the rundown setting to the shoot.

Todo o Nada

I wish I was visiting Rome this summer to see Mario Testino's exhibition, Todo o Nada, at the Fondazione Memmo. Some of Italy's most historic fashion houses, Fendi, Gucci and Valentino, have come together to celebrate one of the most iconic photographers of our time; Testino. The exhibition explores the contrasts and advantages between being clothed and being nude, documenting the strong, assertive and powerfully feminine women that have been a constant muse for Testino over the years.

Testino has this knack of making his model look stunning no matter if there wearing clothes or not. So the title 'Todo o Nada' meaning 'All or Nothing' seems most appropriate.

All Grown Up

I have never been much of a fan of Harry Potter but the cast all looked so grown up and sophisticated at last nights New York premiere for the final part of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. In particular, Emma Watson looked stunning in a strapless bronze Bottega Veneta creation which she topped off with a slicked crop and dramatic gold leaf eye make up.

She said she wanted to push the 'fashion envelope' this time round with something a bit more edgy compared to her fairytale-like Oscar de la Renta dress which she wore to the London premiere.

Vauxhall Fashion Scout

It was announced today that Central Saint Martins fashion duo Sam Leutton and Jenny Postle, now to be known collectively as Leutton Postle, have been awarded this seasons Vauxhall Fashion Scout Merit Award. The prize is a sponsored catwalk show and exhibition space at Vauxhall Fashion Scout during London and Paris Fashion Weeks S/S12. The designers aim to create 'unique and new knitwear with a couture quailty'. Take a look at Jenny Postle's MA collection:

I don't know what you think about this particular collection, but I thought it was very repetitive. Each look just seemed the same as the last one. Don't get me wrong, I love the use of texture and the clever mix of fabrics, i think this particular aspect is very innovative, however I'm not sure if this would have been my personal choice for the winner. Maybe I will be proved wrong and the pair will produce a spectacular collection next season, but we'll just have to wait and see. What do you think?

Got Enough Bags There?

My final photoshoot from this months Vogue is that named 'Style Hunter' photographed by Raymond Meier. With a preview at the new seasons key accessories it is shot in a street style kinda way. Perfect shoot to give me inspiration for my next uni project.

Love the over use of accessories, I mean who needs just one bag at any time, and also the complete mix-match of colours, patterns and textures. I think the fact that it is shot in the street as 'street style' photography means that the looks just work. The headgear reminds me of the A/W11 Topshop unique show, and I love the cropping of the 4th and 5th images. If the image was of the model as a whole it would still look good, yet the cropping of just the feet draws the audience in and gives a more dramatic focus. And I love how the Celine bag (image 4) is decorated with childrens stickers. It just adds that extra touch.

You've Got The Look

My next favourite photo shoot from this months Vogue, is the one that features some of Britain's young beauty's modelling the latest collections. Photographed by Alasdair McLellan.

Channeling the 1940s in Miu Miu, Pixie Geldof looks so glamorous yet so innocent. Love that her shoes match her gorgeous new hair colour.

Tali Lennox in Ralph Lauren shows us her sultry side yet has a direct reference to the Hollywood glamour of the past.

Love the contrast of this black and white image against the colourful photos of the rest of the shoot. Seventies glamour is at it's best with Felcitiy Jones in Yves Saint Laurent.

Edie Campbell rocks the biker chic look in Chanel, with a stunning mix of androgyny and rebellion.

Love the mix of the chiffon spots against the block of black, adding an extra dimension and quirky twist to this Stella McCartney LBD, modelled by Kaya Scodelario.

Oo La La

This months Vogue (August) had some stunning photo shoots so I have picked a few of my favourite, starting with the divine Kate Moss.

Photographed by Mario Testino of course, just how stunning and sophisticated does Kate Moss look? At a time when the festival look is so popular, one that we would partly expect Moss to be sporting, these ladylike silhouettes are a breath of fresh air. The silouettes, shoulder trims and emphasised waists are simple, yet create the perfect nod towards the 1950s.

To The Left, To The Left

The holiday to Puerto Pollensa in Majorca where my friends and I developed a little obsession with Beyonce, Alioli and Sangria! Along with all this we got to see some gorgeous places and here are some of my favourtie photos of the holiday:

My friends and I
Katy, Jenny, Myself and Fiona

The View

The Sangria

Pollensa Market
The biggest fruit and veg market I've ever seen and some lovely little jewellery stores.

Alcudia Old Town
The Church.
The view over all the houses from the walkway.

The Cocktails
Caipirinha, my favourite cocktail. My Dad introduced me to this a few years back, and the mix of the sour limes with the sweetness of the sugar topped off with the kick from the rum is the perfect mix. The Lemon Lounge, a bar off one of the jettys, is the best place that serves them.

Palma
One of the most gorgeous cities I've ever been to. Behind every corner was something completley different.

The cathedral was one of the best pieces of Architecture ever. And positioned on the lake, it is the most stunning setting.

The boats in the harbour.

Most interesting tree. Love the colour and the shape.

Love This Photo
