Little Sis

So my sister dragged me into town yesterday as she has far too much money than sense and wanted to spend it and, as a fashion student, decided that my help was crucial. It turned out to be more fun than I thought, and I got quite excited putting lots of different outfits together! Here is the outcome:

Let me know what you think.

London Town

On my travels this past few weeks I took a trip to London with my cousin. Instead of doing the usual Oxford Street, we took a trip to Brick Lane. I had never been before but it was such an interesting, inspiring and exciting place. Take a look at my findings:

Street Art
The street art was everywhere in Brick Lane and I like how each piece is so different and so detailed. It's not graffiti but definitely works of art.

Vintage Shopping
I loved this vintage shop, it was so cute. They even had a little cafe and book shelevs full of books. Saw some gorgeous vintage pieces in here too.

Love this jumper. My lovely cousin modelling this old school American college sweater.

I loved the crazy jumbleness of Beyond Retro. There was so much stuff and I wish I'd had more time to rumage through it all.

V FEST

This was my first ever proper festival and it was AMAZING. Proper loved it (even the camping bit)! Here are some of my highlights from the weekend:

ARCTIC MONKEYS!!
Finally got to see my favourite ever band and they lived up to all my expectations. I loved it! And I am loving Alex Turner's Elvis-esque quiff. He looked lovely!

Rihanna
She was stunning and put on such a good performance.

Eminem
Before V Fest I wasn't Eminem's biggest fan, but after seeing him live my opinion has definitely changed. He was so so good live, one of the best performances of the weekend.

Outfits:
Day 1: Ibiza Rocks top, black denim shorts  from Zara worn with my mum's black Hunters and socks.
Of course topped off every day with the face paint!

Day 2: Stripy body-con Topshop dress, floral scarf, trusty pack-a-mac for the rain worn with socks and Hunters

Day 3: Black bandeau from Primark and Floral shorts from New Look with vintage scarf tied in my hair

Me and the girls waiting for Eminem to come on stage.

Along with other brilliant performances from Tinie Tempah, Hard-Fi, the 5 minuted I got to see of Dizzee Rascal and suprisingly the Wanted, it was such a good weekend. Bring on Leeds Fest on Friday!

Inbetweeners

Apologies for the lack of blogging recently, been holidaying and festivaling, but I promise to get back on it!

Firstly, I just needed to share my love for this movie with you:

The Inbetweeners Movie

I know this isn't fashion related at all as these are probably some of the most unfashionable boys going, but, if you haven't already, you definitely need to see this film. It is hilarious.

The Look Show A/W11

Once again Look Magazine is offering the fantastic opportunity to write for the Look Show during London Fashion Week this coming September.
Every blogger, from those as successful as Style Bubble or Fashion Toast, or even as brilliant as The Sartorialist, or like me, who maybe aren’t as yet as well known, but have a real love for blogging about fashion, want to be on that front row seat at London Fashion Week. It is every blogger’s dream; at least I know it is mine.
For years, the fashion industry is where I have wanted to work, my whole life revolves around it, and I constantly want to let people know about the latest trends I have discovered. Take this Autumn/Winter for example; it is all about the silhouette. Whether it is oversized like Lanvin, masculine like Stella McCartney, or nipped in with a hint of the 1940s as seen on Jean Paul Gaultier. Everybody will be thinking about shape. Or on the complete other hand, you might decide to take on the fetish trend, complete with black leather and suspenders, just like Louis Vuitton and Alexander McQueen did in February. And if you’re going to that all important Christmas party, as long as you wear a jewel tone dress you will be bang on trend.
This opportunity would be the perfect chance for me to grasp this intense desire I have for fashion and let me share my love with even more people than I currently do. After having just completed my first year at Nottingham Trent University, studying Fashion Communication and Promotion, this would bring me that one step closer to achieving my goal to become a professional fashion journalist; whether this be amongst the blogosphere or writing for a magazine like Look.
I hope this blog entry, as well as the rest of my blog, makes you realise how dedicated I am to this subject and how much passion I have for writing about and sharing my love of fashion, and that for me to report on the Look Show would be a dream come true.

Autumn/Winter 11

I have recently been looking through my old textile A-Level work and found all my old fashion illustrations; I had forgotten how much I loved to draw. This has therefore inspired me to get drawing again and I have illustrated some of A/W key trends. See what you think:

This season is all about the silhouette, whether it is oversized and masculine or nipped in with inspiration from the 1940s or 1960s. And of course as it's Autumn there is plenty of colour, from the gorgeous jewel tones, perfect for this time of year, to lots of print and pattern. And of course there is that fetish trend seen on catwalks like Louis Vuitton and Alexander McQueen. Think lots of black leather, sheer fabric and suspenders.

Sheffield Knows Best

So one of my many uni projects this summer was to go out and take some street style photographs. I went out in my hometown of sheffield and took some photos of the lovely stylish people of the city. Thankyou for everyone who helped, here are the results:

See if you can spot yourself! And if your wondering what happens next with the photos I'm going to make them into a lookbook to hand in for my uni project.

Thankyou xx
