LN-CC

last month i went to london for a couple of days and along with many other things we visited this spectacular store called LN-CC. situated in dalston, in the north-east of the city, when we were walking down the street we did not expect to find what we did inside. (sorry about the lack of quality imagery, they were taken on my blackberry)

we get to the front of this big warehouse style building and on the intercom there is a little sign saying 'for LN-CC go to the door down the side of the building'. this picture above is what we had to walk down. we were just thinking where are we going and what is going to happen to us! fortunately it was all fine and the contrast  between the outside and inside of the building was incredible.

these two photos show the entrance decorated with branches and twigs and then the walkway running through the store. definitely not what we were expecting. off this was 7 different concept rooms which were supposed to move you through various moods and influences. each room was filled with both up and coming as well as established designer clothing and there is even a library full of interesting and rare books. 

not only did i love how revolutionary this store was and the ideas behind it, i loved the use of textures that made up each of the rooms. from the branches when you walked in, every section had a completely different feel about it. this first room pictured had all the mannequins hanging from the ceiling and a much more man-made, cold, feel about it. this had been achieved through the use of materials, the use of shape and finally the style and type of clothing that was hung in there. the second room was the complete opposite, it was a lot more warm and natural. the clothing and lighting was much brighter and the use of wood helped to put across this mood.

this was a pair of shows i found in one of the rooms and for me they sum up the entire store through the materials they are made out of. although you probably can't tell in the photo, they are make to look like wood and therefore blend in quite well with their surroundings. however when you go to touch them you expect them to be hard, like wood, but they're the complete opposite. it was strange! 

it is appointment only to visit the store, but if you know your going to london it is definitely worth a visit. the staff are friendly and very welcoming and you aren't expected to buy anything. the store is an experience in itself and something you will have never seen before.
