tramlines

Now that I am back in the glorious Sheffield, I just can't shake this festival feeling. Therefore today was spent on Devonshire Green in Sheffield enjoying the yearly free music festival Tramlines. Despite the awful weather we have been having this week, as soon as Tramlines begins the sun always comes out. With cheap food and lots of drink offers, every bar in the city gets involved in the festival, it was the perfect way to spend my final weekend of freedom but I hit full time employment that the rest of my summer seems to be.

The line-up today included Hey Sholay, which we arrived just in time to hear the end of their set, Clock Opera, Charli XCX, Chew Lips, Ms Dynamite and Roots Manuva. Not gonna lie, don't know who half these people were that were playing and there were a few times when I wasn't quite sure who was actually on stage but just the fact that it was sunny and I was listening to music pleased me. It was such a good atmosphere and it was nice to see the whole city come together to celebrate the best music both Sheffield and the country has to offer.

I would have loved to hang around to see Ms Dynamite play, even if it was just to hear her sing Ms Dy-Na-Mi-Tee!! But unfortunately we had to leave before she came on stage.

Just for old times!

My lovely friends Jenny and Katy

I wore a black and white splattered body from Urban Outfitters and forest green jeans from French Connection. Bag is from River Island. I was going for the casual festival look, as of course we are in Britain and there is no 30 degree heat outside. I of course accessorised with the best summer drink: cider and black!!

Tramlines in on the entire weekend, so if your in Sheffield town centre tomorrow, it is worth checking out.

azealia banks - liquorice

As my friends will account for, over recent months I seemed to have developed a slight obsession with NY based singer Azealia Banks. There is something about her tunes, however rude they may be, they are far too catchy and I just can't help but play them on repeat; constantly.

However after watching her video for her new single 'Liquorice' I was intrigued to realise that the video was directed by non other than the London based director Rankin.

'Liquorice' is a step up from Azealia's debut single '212' with this video being a stylised and sleek affair. The video has a much more art directed feel about it, obviously Rankin's influence, and sees the singer riding horseback through the desert.

With Azealia recently announcing that she no longer wants to be considered as a rapper, but instead taken more seriously as a vocalist, this video seems like a step in the right direction to achieving this goal.

barcelona + benicassim

I have been waiting months for today to arrive and now it is finally here I am beyond excited. Today I am off to Barcelona with the girls and on tuesday we travel down to Benicassim for the festival. With the likes of Florence and the Machine, Ed Sheeran and Dizzee Rascal playing it is guaranteed to be a spectacular couple of weeks.

Yesterday therefore consisted of packing, which is not one of my best skills, and as per I have packed absolutely everything - just in case!

I though laying out everything I wanted to take would help with the packing; it didn't I just kept adding to the pile!

This is what I am planning to wear for the four days of the festival but no doubt it is likely to change between now and then!

Ed Sheeran - Small Bump

Imagine this song playing, it is the end of the festival, the sun has set and the whole crowd is singing along. Literally can't wait!!

So with my copy of 'Fifty Shades of Grey' in hand today I leave the lovely rain that has been non stop to 30 degree sunshine! Jealous!? See you in a couple of weeks!
